My name is Luciana McHugh and I’m a certified Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition – the largest nutrition school in the world. I’m also a member of the AADP - American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and a certified yoga teacher.
My past life:
In my past life I was a journalist in Brazil. I wrote articles for a local newspaper and worked at a TV station featuring success stories about small business. Fun stuff!
I also worked at a major corporation as an executive assistant In NYC.
How did I get into health?
Well, my journey started when I found out I was pregnant in 2006.
I’ve struggled with digestive problems, weight gain (especially around the waist), fatigue, sugar cravings, and blood sugar imbalance since I can remember. Did I mention moodiness? Anyway, it never occurred to me that those symptoms could be related to my diet - which basically consisted of processed foods, simple carbs, sugar, cheese, and caffeine. I'm talking about pasta, rice, cakes, pizza, lattes … you got the picture.
In 2004 I had an endoscopy and was told to take Prilosec for the rest of my life. The words FOOD and LIFESTYLE were never mentioned.
When I became pregnant I started reading every article, and books about healthy pregnancy I could put my hands on (yes, I was a bit obsessed) and practicing pre-natal yoga. I also started working with a HEALTH COACH. That was when I realized that living healthy, happy and less stressed out had NOTHING to do with prescription, but EVERYTHING to do with whole foods, lifestyle choices, AND personal growth.
In 2010 I became a yoga instructor, and in 2013 I became a Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC. Through IIN I got inspired to empower women to take charge of their health and happiness NATURALLY.
I received my training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. Drawing on this knowledge, I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
